Beads....

There are beads, and there are Beads.

Some Beads are so exquisite, you fall in love with them instantly, and can never get them out of your mind. Some beads are mildly pretty, but look much better when strung together with others of their kind. Many beads serve only as fillers- on their own, you would not give them a second look, but no necklace would be complete without them. Whether they are Beads, or merely beads, strung together by an expert, they create beauty far beyond what each individual bead is capable of.

Words and beads. Aren't they alike?

Beautiful analogy. I never would have seen this connection.

I kinda figured that it was some sort of analogy. It wors for words, and it could work for a hundred other things. That's a great acid test, if people can get their own meanings from it, a piece of art can last forever!

Rayna - You draw such a wonderful analogy! And you're right of course. All words have important places in writing. Some are the "big" words, some seem like just "fillers," but all of them are important and a story would not be complete without each one.

Words and beads - but perhaps also people? Some people seem quiet, almost boring, and insignificant - until you realize your family or circle of friends would never be the same without them.

What a wonderful comparison. I also loved the photo.

Great analogy but some people put the beads and words together more artfully than others.

How true! Sometimes the pattern just isn't working and you have to dump the entire strand and start again...that's okay, that's part of the fun.

I love that you tied words and beads together. I wasn't expecting it, but it was perfect!

Poignant! You certainly have the eye for beads/words to make a piece memorable. :)

could this even be a metaphor for women!?

Wow, I love this so much. It combines my love for jewelry and metaphors :) The wonderful thing is that this can serve as a metaphor for so many things!

Beautiful writing as always, Rayna.

Words and Beads - Both depends on the People who is using it or making it.

That is the BEST comparison I've heard in LONG time! So true. Perhaps that's why I had a bead obsession not long ago. Yep, that makes sense. "I love to write. Therefore I love beads." Sounds like something Shakespeare should've said ... ;o)

@ Mary - thank you.

@ Will - absolutely. It could work for a million other things. Or it need just be something beautiful in itself. Isn't that what makes the world so lovely.

@ Margot - thank you so much, Margot. You are really kind.

@ Dorte - yes, people too. Holds just as true for people. Thank you.

@ Jane - thank you. And that is one of my favourite photographs- winter sunshine is lovely.

@ Susan - so true. It is all in how they are put together.

@ Raquel - absolutely. You can't afford to fall in love with something that doesn't work- you need to be ruthless about editing.

@ Oddyoddyo13 - thank you.

@ Alex - thank you.

@ Helen - thank you.

@ Carolyn - as do you, my dear. Incidentally, that picture reminded me of you- maybe it was the colours.

@ Priya - absolutely. Maybe it would be a nice exercise to think of the various things it would hold for.

@ Saumya - thank you. And I love bead jewellary too.

@ Jarlin - so true.

@ Danette - thank you.

@ Mason - thank you.

@ Jessica - thank you. And I had a bead obsession too, still do. Wow, Shakespear!
