Why are you so scared?

Do you remember how you felt when you stood up for the first time? Unsteady on your legs, falling down after a few seconds, but not giving up till you got it right.
Do you remember taking your first step? You need not have- crawling could get your around quite well - but you still took that Step.

There was a time when you were not scared of taking risks. A time when you knew that you could not cling to the familiar forever. A time when you were not scared to let go.

Why, now, are you so scared?

"The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reason for remaining ashore." Vincent Van Gogh

This is the fourth year that I am going to be a part of NaBloWriM. The Plan is to elaborate (in 100 words) on a quote that touched my heart- let's see how far this takes me. If I can tie it in with the writing prompt, so much the better!

I wonder how it is that we begin to start thinking too much of 'what everyone will think' and 'what will happen if I fail.' Somehow between childhood and adulthood we learn to be afraid of failure...
