Finding bling: Day 29 of #100happydays

When we moved to our new house, I tried to make a place for everything.  The books were arranged according to genre. All my DIY stuff went into a drawer, the photographs were arranged in another. I had a functional medicine chest. I was arranged, super arranged, by my standards.
And then I had to dig deep into the first aid box for some plaster, and I found a strand of beads that I stuck in there, because it didn’t go anywhere else. I put it on at once. Isn’t it wonderful to find something you are not looking for.

Restarting Yoga: Day 28 of #100happydays

When you concentrate on fitness of a kind, you tend to neglect the rest. Which is what happened to me. I called myself a runner, so endurance became the name of the game for me. I would run long, I would run often. I would cross train with cycling and swimming, and do exercises to strengthen the core, but everything I did was directed towards making me a stronger runner.
And then I realized I couldn’t touch my toes. Not even if I bent my knees. Time to stop defining myself as a runner. Time to go back to Yoga.

Reading together: Day 27 of #100happydays

When I was young, I used to dream of living in a house made of books. Walls made of books, instead of bricks. Books stacked one over the other to form furniture. Books everywhere!
By the time I got a house of my own, I realized how impractical the dream was. Stacks of books have a tendency to fall over, and how do you pull out a book from the wall? The dream faded.
But now, I have something even better. I have a house of readers. Each of us happiest when lost in our own worlds- united by words!

S-t-r-e-t-c-h: Day 26 of #100happydays

The last thing you want to do at the end of a workout is stretch. You know that stretching the muscles is the only way to remain injury free. You know that nothing refreshes you as much as a good stretch. And yet, when you are pushed for time, you prefer to skip the stretching, instead of sacrificing a few minutes of the workout to do it. Perhaps it is because the act of stretching itself can be painful at times.
Whatever the reason, change the habit, and s-t-r-e-t-c-h.
And do all those other things that are good for you.

Floral Bling- Day 25 of #100happydays

I don’t normally buy flowers, but when I do, I make sure I buy only marigolds. Because once you are done enjoying them, you can take the flowers apart, shake out the seeds, and plant them. If you are lucky, some of them sprout, take root, grow and become plants themselves. And if you are very, very lucky, a few of them even give you a new crop of flowers.
Can anything be more satisfying that seeing the creation of something out of what would normally be thrown away? Can anything look prettier than orange floral bling in your balcony?

Saffron, white and green make up the colours of the Indian flag- my balcony celebrated Republic Day in its own way!
